Nashville, TN (October 19, 2011) — Acclaimed singer/songwriter and author Andrew Peterson hosted the second annual Hutchmoot in Nashville, Tennessee, September 22-25. Open to 100 attendees, the conference immediately sold out in just six hours! The four-day event was filled with music, conversation, and a series of discussions centered on the telling of great stories through song, literature, film, and a variety of other art forms. The artists who led the sessions and performed, encouraged guests to focus on living in creative community.
The Square Peg Alliance—including Peterson, Ben Shive, Jill Phillips, Andy Osenga, Jason Gray, Eric Peters, Katy Bowser, Andy Gullahorn, and Randall Goodgame—performed an exclusive two-hour concert for the Hutchmoot audience.
Guests were also treated to a special CD release concert by Jason Gray, celebrating the release of his critically acclaimed album, A Way to See in the Dark (Centricity Music).
The Artist-in-Residence, illustrator Justin Gerard, offered selections available for view and purchase, and allowed a glimpse into his unique methods, through an interactive session with author Russ Ramsey.
This year’s keynote speaker was New York Times best-selling author Sally Lloyd-Jones, a leading writer of inspirational books for children and the author of three children’s Bibles, including Moonbeam Award Winner The Jesus Storybook Bible.
Additional sessions were led by a variety of artists, writers, and storytellers including Peterson and his Square Peg Alliance friends, as well as Cason Cooley, Thomas McKenzie, S. D. Smith, Jonathan Rogers, A. S. Peterson, and Jennifer Trafton among others.
Peterson established the Hutchmoot conference in 2010 as an offshoot of The Rabbit Room, an online community that celebrates creativity, literature, and music. He felt it was time to move beyond cyberspace and connect with fans in a tangible way, which led to Hutchmoot 2010.
In May, Peterson released his third book in the four-part Wingfeather Saga series, The Monster in the Hollows, and it instantly generated rave reviews and is already being hailed as a classic. According to Examiner.com, “The storyline grabs you from the opening line and doesn’t let go until the ‘I didn’t see that coming!’ twist of an ending. Be forewarned; don’t start this book if you don’t have a full weekend set aside.”
Peterson is currently on the Songs & Stories tour with Steven Curtis Chapman and Josh Wilson that runs through November 3. Then Peterson will be gearing up for his annual Behold The Lamb of God tour that launches December 1 in Huntsville, AL and ends December 18 at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.
